Henton, Dunn Named to All-Big East First Team

With the league season officially over as of March 7th the Big East has announced the end of season awards. Two Friars were unanimous selections to the All-Big East First Team and its no surprise who those two Friars are. LaDontae Henton and Kris Dunn were unanimous selections despite not being on the First Team in the preseason. Henton was on the Second Team and Dunn was nowhere to be found in the preseason. Villanova’s Darrun Hilliard was the only other unanimous selection to the First Team.

This is tbe first time in school history that Providence has had two players on the Big East First Team.

Henton is the league leader in scoring at 20.1 points/game while Dunn led the Big East in assists (7.7) and steals (2.8). Dunn is the first player in league history to lead the Big East in assists and steals.

Henton is now the sixth Providence Friar to lead the Big East in scoring. He’s the 3 Providence player in the last 5 years to accomplish that feat. The five other Friars who have led the Big East in scoring are Bryce Cotton in 2013 (18.3 ppg), Marshon Brooks in 2011 (26.0 ppg), Herbert Hill in 2007 (19.9 ppg), Ryan Gomes in 2005 (23.2 ppg) and Eric Murdock in 1991 (27.2 ppg).

Dunn is the fourth straight Friar to lead the Big East in assists. Bryce Cotton led the league in assists in 2014 (6.1 apg) and Vincent Council led the Big East in 2013 (7.2 apg) and 2012 (8.0 apg).

Providence heads into the Big East Tournament looking to rebound from their loss to Butler in the regular season finale at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. The Friars are the 4 seed and will play St. John’s on Thursday at 2:30pm.
