Heading into tonight’s matchup against the Marquette Golden Eagles, Joe Lunardi’s latest bracket release today has PC as a 10 seed in the South region playing Texas. He has also moved them from “Last Four In” to “Last Four Byes”.
BracketMatrix.com is showing PC in 64 brackets out of 67 possible brackets with an average seed of 11. Last week they were only in 57 brackets with an average seed of 12. The latest update on this is 1/29/14 7:29pm.
Share your favorite #FriarTBT pictures today and every Thursday. I’ll be focusing on Marquette since PC will take on the Golden Eagles in 8 hours on Fox Sports 1.
Last night’s results were 5-2 with Vermont, BC, Vandy, Maine and Maryland winning and UMass and LaSalle losing. PC’s RPI is now at 43 (was 42). UMass losing likely knocks them out of the top 25.
Only 1 opportunity tonight for PC to make some RPI moves (aside from taking care of their own business against Marquette).
Fantastic piece by the Projo’s Kevin McNamara. Fortune was never meant to play this many minutes this early in his career. He can be extremely frustrating to watch when he makes the bad turnover but it cannot be denied that he has made some big shots in big moments and this season when he provides double digit scoring, PC is 5-1 with the only loss coming at the Barclays Center against Kentucky on December 1st. He also is a model member of the PC basketball team which is something that is nice to see. Definitely a good read by KMac.
Friarbasketball.com – Craig Leighton – National Prep Showcase Inv. Starts Thurs – Great preview from Craig that includes a list of potential PC recruits who will be playing in the NPSI.
CBSSports.com – Jon Rothstein- Triple Threat: Hood is Duke’s top gun (now); No. 1 Arizona, KU facing tests – Three storylines to keep in mind 3. Providence needs road performance to reach NCAA Tournament: Ed Cooley has rallied the Friars and Providence has won five straight after starting 0-2 in the Big East. The Friars have limited personnel (for various reasons) and play seven of its final 11 on the road, where lack of depth hurts. Providence doesn’t have a perimeter sub for lead guard Bryce Cotton, who’s played every second of the Friars’ games during this five-game winning streak. Limited depth could make it hard to sustain things if this team hopes to keep momentum going into February and March. But keep in mind that Providence’s surge helps the Big East. The Friars given the conference a potential fourth NCAA Tournament team — along with Creighton, Villanova and Xavier. Without Providence, it’s tough to see this conference getting four bids unless someone comes from nowhere to win the Big East Tournament in March.
