2016 Big East Tournament Odds

March is here and conference tournaments are either underway already or about to be underway this week. The buzzer beaters and Cinderella stories are both good reasons why college basketball in March is awesome, but another large factor is…gambling. Obviously gambling should only be done where legal by those who are allowed to partake. Having said that, here are odds for who will win the 2016 Big East Tournament, you know, for entertainment purposes.

Ben Bentil is Big East’s Most Improved Player, Kris Dunn Repeats as Big East’s Defensive Player of the Year

The Big East announced more postseason awards and honors on Monday and Ben Bentil and Kris Dunn received more recognition a day after being unanimous selections to the Big East First Team on Sunday. Bentil was named the league’s Most Improved Player after leading the Big East in scoring at 21.2 points/game. Dunn repeats as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year after sharing the award with St. John’s Sir’Dominic Pointer last season.

Ben Bentil, Kris Dunn Unanimous Selections to All-Big East First Team

The Big East has announced their postseason teams and two Providence players were unanimously selected for the First Team. Kris Dunn was expected to be on the First Team after being named the league’s preseason Player of the Year, but Bentil surprised this season and earned his unanimous selection by leading the Big East in scoring. Bentil was also named the Big East’s Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season. Dunn was named to the Weekly Honor Roll, along with Myles Davis, Roosevelt Jones, Kris Jenkins and Isaiah Whitehead. Henry Ellenson was named Big East Freshman of the Week.

2016 Big East Tournament Bracket

The final day of the regular season played out as expected and the final league standings are locked in, which means the seeding for this year’s Big East Tournament are also locked in. The Big East Tournament begins on Wedneday, March 9th. The announcer pairings were released on Thursday afternoon and you can find the schedule of games below.

Big East Tournament Seed Watch Final Edition of 2016

All ten Big East teams are in action on Saturday and only half the league is locked into their Big East Tournament seed as of now. Providence, Butler, Creighton, Marquette and Georgetown have scenarios where they could move out of their current slots and I’ll detail all of those scenarios in this final edition of the Big East Tournament Seed Watch. The Big East Tournament begins on Wedneday, March 9th. The announcer pairings were released on Thursday afternoon and you can find the schedule of games below.

2016 Big East Tournament Announcer Pairings Revealed

Fox Sports released the announcer pairings for the 2016 Big East Tournament on Thursday. As was the case last season, Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery will handle the Wednesday and Thursday night games. Raftery will then head off to the Big Ten Tournament and Jim Jackson will replace him with Johnson for the semifinals on Friday night and the finals on Saturday. Justin Kutcher and Jackson will call the Thursday afternoon games. The finals are being played at 5:30pm ET this season and will be on FOX. All other games will air on Fox Sports 1. Molly McGrath will also be roaming the sidelines for each game. Rob Stone, Steve Lavin and Donny Marshall will be in attendance at MSG for pre-game, halftime and post-game analysis.

Big East Tournament Seed Watch 3/2/16

We’re coming down the final stretch with games on Wednesday night being the 17th for all teams involved. It’s funny that tonight’s matchups would be the matchups in the Big East Tournament if the season ended yesterday. The bottomline is that the regular season comes to a conclusion on March 5th with all ten teams in action and the likelihood is that many of the Big East members will still be jockeying for final seeding position for the Big East Tournament that begins on March 9th at Madison Square Garden.
