2014-15 Big East Basketball Conference Schedule Released

The Big East finally released the conference schedule for the 2014-15 season on Tuesday. With the round robin scheduling of the 10 Big East teams the mystery wasn’t who would play each other twice as was the case with the prior version of the Big East but more about timing of road trips and fans being able to lock in on dates on their calendars.

I have updated the 2014-15 Schedule page which is always in the top menu. This has the full schedule with non-conference and now conference matchups. Also included is the television network that the game will be played on (where known at this point).

The popular Big East New Years Eve conference season kickoff is back for the second consecutive year on Fox Sports 1. The Friars will be game 4 of the day and will tip off at 7:30pm vs. Creighton at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center which will be a cool rematch of the Big East Tournament Championship game. The full NYE schedule is (all games will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1):

  • 12:00pm St. John’s at Seton Hall
  • 2:30pm Butler at Villanova

BIG EAST CONFERENCE TO LAUNCH DIGITAL NETWORK FEATURING FREE LIVE STREAMING OF MORE THAN 80 EVENTS

FOX Sports to Host BIG EAST Content Exclusively on

FOX Sports GO Digital Platform

BIG EAST Digital Network to Launch on September 25

NEW YORK – September 5, 2014 – The BIG EAST Conference, in partnership with FOX Sports, today announced the creation of the BIG EAST Digital Network, a conference-specific, year-round HD digital channel offering free live streaming of 80-100 sporting events annually, in addition to the authenticated live streaming of BIG EAST events on FOX Sports networks. The BIG EAST Digital Network will begin with the 2014-15 academic year.

The BIG EAST Digital Network will have its own branded channel within FOX Sports GO, the app that provides live streaming video of FOX Sports content at home or on-the-go.  The BIG EAST is the first collegiate conference to be hosted on the network’s mobile platform.

FOX Sports GO will launch the BIG EAST Digital Network on September 25 and will feature a women’s soccer match between Georgetown at DePaul at 5 PM EST as the first event.

FOX Sports GO is currently available for iOS, Android, Kindle Fire tablets and Fire phones, select Windows devices, and on desktops through FOXSportsGO.com.  Fans can download the mobile app for free from the iTunes App Store, Google Play, Amazon App Store and Windows Store.

With most BIG EAST men’s basketball games set to be televised on FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2, FOX Sports Regional Networks, or FOX broadcast network during the 2014-15 season, the BIG EAST Digital Network will supplement scheduled television coverage while expanding exposure of additional athletic contests, including BIG EAST women’s basketball and the conference’s 20 Olympic sports.   In addition to live streaming, content will include highlights, selected news coverage and shoulder programming. The BIG EAST will oversee all production on the Digital Network. Rush Media Company will serve as the conference’s third-party production services supplier.

“The Conference is proud to team with FOX Sports to introduce the BIG EAST Digital Network,” said Commissioner Val Ackerman. “While fans of the conference will be able to see all of our men’s basketball games on television, the BIG EAST Digital Network will allow easy access to other programming valued by our schools, including women’s basketball and Olympic sports competitions and features.  Thanks to FOX Sports GO’s reach, the Digital Network will provide substantial distribution of BIG EAST sports to a wider audience and better serve our student-athletes and their supporters.”

Highlighted coverage on the Digital Network will include select regular season BIG EAST women’s basketball games, as well as the opening round and quarterfinal rounds of the women’s basketball tournament in Chicago, and championship games for the conference’s Olympic sports.

Said Clark Pierce, FOX Sports Senior Vice President of Mobile and Advanced Platforms: “The BIG EAST Digital Network is an excellent addition to the FOX Sports GO portfolio. We’re proud that we’ll have the opportunity to showcase these great events and make them accessible to fans and supporters at home or on-the-go.”

FOX Sports GO users who are also subscribers of participating video providers can live stream the BIG EAST men’s and women’s basketball telecasts, plus the Olympic sports championships,  carried on FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2, FOX Sports Regional Networks, and FOX broadcast network.  The BIG EAST women’s basketball events and the Olympic sports contests that are not televised by FOX Sports do not require a video subscription.

Select content will also be available on bigeast.com, including historical BIG EAST games on demand, highlight footage, and original programming to be unveiled at a later date. Specific dates and additional details of featured match-ups, including regular season games and championship contests, will be released as game schedules are finalized.
