Watch Providence’s Wednesday News Conference in Raleigh

Providence coach Ed Cooley and players Kris Dunn, Ben Bentil,  Junior Lomomba and Kyron Cartwright are part of this news conference ahead of Thursday’s First Round matchup with USC. The players go first, followed by the coach. This is streaming live, but the entire afternoon of North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast and Providence will be available for viewing at this same YouTube link. Watch here:

NCAA Tournament 2016: First Round Tip Times, TV Schedule and Announcer Pairings in Providence

Many Providence basketball season ticket holders opted to buy tickets to the NCAA Tournament’s First and Second Rounds being played at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center this year. While the committee wasn’t able to ensure that the Friar are playing on the opposite day that their home site is hosting games, there will be plenty of time to watch action at the Dunk before Providence and USC tip off in Raleigh at close to 10pm EDT on Thursday night. There are also some marquee names for fans to see at the Dunk that are unlikely to be there to take on the Friars. Here are the games, tip times, TV schedule and announcer pairings for the First Round games being played in Providence.

NCAA Tournament 2016: Examining Providence’s Draw

The Providence Friars are in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season and 18th time overall in school history. Ed Cooley has accomplished this streak for the first time since Dave Gavitt took Providence teams with Ernie DiGregorio and Marvin Barnes to three straight Big Dances between 1972-74. This is the third streak of three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament with the first being 1964-66. Those previous runs included trips to Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight and Final Four. The current streak has yet to yield a single win.

Providence is a 9 Seed, to Play 8th Seeded USC in NCAA Tournament East Region

Providence is making their 3rd straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and Ed Cooley’s bunch will be in the 8/9 game as the 9th seed against 8th-seeded Southern California. This is part of the East Region and the game will be in Raleigh. Much more on this to come.

Providence’s Final Six Big East Games and Their Impact on the NCAA Tournament

Providence is now two-thirds of the way through their 18 game Big East schedule and they are sitting at 6-6 and are in a tie for 6th with Butler. The Friars have certainly been up and down in league play. They started 4-2 in the first third of the schedule and followed that up with a 2-4 record in the second third — though 1 of their 2 wins in the second third came on the road at Villanova.
