Recruiting News: ESPN Released Updated Top 100 for Class of 2016

ESPN updated their class of 2016 rankings on Tuesday with a fresh top 100, which is an expansion from the previous top 60 for the class. They plan to release the expanded class of 2017 top 60 on Wednesday and debut the class of 2018 top 25 on Thursday. Scout.com just released their updated 2016 top 100 on Friday last week.

Providence currently has 2 open scholarships to use in the class of 2016, barring a commitment from a big man prior to the start of next season. It is also highly likely that Kris Dunn’s scholarship will open up after this season as he is almost guaranteed to leave for the NBA. Let’s take a look at where some of Providence’s 2016 targets fell on ESPN’s Top 100:

Recruiting News: Scout.com Releases Updated Class Of 2016 Top 100 Recruit Rankings

Scout.com has updated their class of 2016 top 100 list and released it on Friday. Providence currently has two open scholarships for 2016 but they are actively pursuing both 2015 and transfer options to fill at least 1 of those scholarships with a big man. An assumption can also be made that the 2015-16 season will be Kris Dunn’s last at Providence. Below are some players that Providence is targeting from this class that made Scout’s top 100.

Providence Recruiting Update: New Offers and Interest

Putting aside for a moment the search for an impact big man to help the 2015-16 squad let’s take a look at some of the other things Providence has been doing on the recruiting trail of late. Providence Recruiting Update: Any Big Men Out There?

Any big men out there?

That’s a question that is on the mind of many Providence fans. The coaching staff is trying to zero in on someone to replace the minutes Paschal Chukwu was going to get before he surprisingly announced his intention to transfer on May 18th. That late date has put Ed Cooley and his staff in a bind as it doesn’t give them a great deal of time to try to build a relationship with a quality player who can contribute from day 1.

Providence “In the Mix” for Eastern Illinois Grad Transfer Chris Olivier

Providence is searching hard for frontcourt help and one player that could provide that much-needed assistance is Eastern Illinois graduate transfer Chris Olivier. Olivier visited Oklahoma State on May 19th and has yet to schedule any other visits though Jon Rothstein and Jeff Borzello both reported on Twitter that Olivier is planning on visiting Providence. The current recruiting period is a dead period that lasts until May 29th. Any visit to meet the coaching staff would have to be scheduled for after that.

2015 Nike EYBL Session 4 Providence Recruiting Guide

Nike EYBL finishes pool play this weekend in Minneapolis. This is the 4th and final session of the regular season before the playoffs begin at the Peach Jam which is held in North Augusta, SC from July 15th to the 19th. 24 teams will advance to the Peach Jam after this weekend in Minneapolis and some of the teams led by Providence recruits are in good position to do so. This is the second straight session of EYBL where coaches are not allowed to attend as the event takes place during a dead period that runs from May 21st through May 29th.

Here are the Providence targets in Minneapolis this weekend and when they will be playing. The 16U teams are in Atlanta this weekend. You’ll notice the record next to each team and that is the record entering play this weekend. The number next to each player’s name is in case that team plays on one of the live-streamed courts.
