Providence Interested in 2015 Guard Kobie Eubanks

Kobie Eubanks was originally part of the class of 2014 and he signed a National Letter of Intent with Baylor in the Spring of 2014. In mid-September of 2014 he was declared academically ineligible to play at Baylor and opted to do a prep year and become part of the class of 2015. His prep year is being done at Elev8 Sports Institute in his native Florida.

This past weekend Elev8 played in New Haven, CT at the National Prep Showcase and Eubanks was impressive. He poured in 37 points in a win against New Hampton School. Evan Daniels of Scout.com said “Eubanks had arguably the best performance of the National Prep Showcase” with those 37 points. The Providence staff attended games at the NPS Friday night ahead of their weekend games at Mohegan Sun in nearby Uncasville, CT.

Ryan Fazekas Officially Signs Letter of Intent for Providence College

During a ceremony at his school at 1:40pm ET Ryan Fazekas signed his National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College. Fazekas, who had a Big East Championship hat on the table while he signed, was Ed Cooley’s first recruit in the class of 2015. The 6’8 wing shooter should be able to slide right into a role as a shooter on the 2015-16 Friar squad.

Fazekas also had offers from Dartmouth, Northwestern and Valparaiso before pledging to Providence on October 29, 2013 following a trip to Providence for Late Night Madness.

As I reported last week the other two commitments in the class of 2015, Drew Edwards and Alex Owens, were expected to have sent their signed letters of intent last week.

On the 2015 front there may be another point guard target that the Friars can get involved with, Traci Carter. Carter tore his meniscus in the Spring and missed the AAU season while he recovered so his recruitment fell off a bit. Scout.com has him in their top 100 at 92nd and his 247sports composite national ranking is 139th. To compare that to another point guard Ed Cooley targeted in 2015 Justin Robinson is ranked 86th by Scout.com and 129th by 247sports composite national ranking.

#pcbb Weekly Recruiting Update 10/24/14

With 2015 point guard Justin Robinson committing to Virginia Tech on October 12th Friar fans have been wondering if Ed Cooley and his staff have any other targets in the class of 2015 or would they just hang on to that scholarship and move on to the 2016 class. The reality is that a coaching staff can never stop recruiting and college rosters can change at seemingly any moment so hanging on to the scholarship might mean they use it on a midyear transfer or a spring commitment. With that said, there doesn’t appear to be any targets in 2015 that Cooley and his staff have zeroed in on after Robinson. Memphis wing LaGerald Vick announced his commitment to Larry Brown’s SMU Mustangs on Wednesday and Vick will also reclassify to 2016. Vick had gotten some late interest from the Friars in August and even scheduled an official visit to Friartown but that visit was ultimately cancelled. Davon Dillard was a name being mentioned in late August but I haven’t heard much of anything about him since he transferred from Bowman Academy (IN) to basketball factory Our Savior New American (NY).
