How Providence Can Boost Their RPI Today 1/6/15

Continuing with this regular feature Providence moved up slightly in the RPI and there are a handful of opportunities for continued RPI boost tonight aside from the obvious road win potential at Butler.

Providence’s RPI: 26.

Last night saw both games that could boost Providence’s RPI go the Friars way with Brown taking care of UMass-Lowell and Notre Dame winning an impressive road ACC game at UNC. There are five games tonight for PC to get some RPI assistance.

2015 Guard Kobie Eubanks Cuts List to 10

I have previously written about Kobie Eubanks back in late November after Providence coaches took in his impressive 37 point performance at the National Prep Showcase in New Haven on the Friday before the Friars played in the Hall of Fame Tipoff at Mohegan Sun. Eubanks is doing a postgrad year at Elev8 Sports Institute in Florida following his failure to qualify at Baylor as a member of the class of 2014.

On Monday he informed Scout.com that he cut his list of schools down to 10 and Providence made the cut for the 121st ranked player according to 247sports’ composite national rankings. Scout.com is the service that ranks him the highest at 53rd nationally.

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm Releases Updated Bracketology 1/5/15

To go along with ESPN’s Joe Lunardi releasing an updated bracket on Monday CBSSports didn’t want to be left out so Jerry Palm also updated his bracket. Palm was slightly less bullish on the Big East but still had 5 teams in his field of 68. I think Palm’s 5 is probably a more realistic number come March than Lunardi’s 7 because the middle of this conference is going to beat each other up.

Here is how Palm has the Big East:

National Polls Update: Week 9

Providence went 1-1 this week which was not good enough to garner any votes in week 9 which marks the 4th straight week that the Friars have gotten zero votes in either poll. The Friars have 2 games this week including a road game against Butler Tuesday night.  Going 2-0 this week at Butler and versus Georgetown at home would go a long way towards impressing voters for week 10 and beyond.
