Big East Tournament Bracket As of 4pm 3/8/14
Right now the seeding is as follows:
1. Villanova
2. Creighton
3. Providence/Xavier
4. Xavier/Providence
5. St. John’s
6. Marquette
7. Georgetown
8. Seton Hall
9. Butler/DePaul
10. DePaul/Butler
Here are the seeding scenarios for those that aren’t locked in:
- 3/4 seed: If Providence wins tonight at Creighton, they will be the 3 seed playing 6 seed Marquette on Thursday night at 9:30pm and Xavier will be the 4 seed playing 5 seed St. John’s on Thursday afternoon at 2:30pm. If Providence loses tonight at Creighton, Xavier will be the 3 seed playing 6 seed Marquette and Providence will be the 4 seed playing 5 seed St. John’s.
- 9/10 seed: If Butler loses to Seton Hall today, they would have the same conference record, 3-15, as DePaul but DePaul would be the 9 seed due to a 1-1 record against St. John’s (DePaul and Butler split their own season series 1-1 so tiebreakers goes to record against the highest team. Both teams are 0-2 vs. the top 4 in the league but DePaul is 1-1 against 5 seed St. John’s and Butler is 0-2 against them). If Butler wins today against Seton Hall, they will be the 9 seed by virtue of having 1 more league win than DePaul.

Game Notes
- The Friars and Blue Jays have met 11 times all time. PC has a 7-4 edge in the series but before this season, the two teams hadn’t played since November 25, 2000.
- Bryce Cotton leads the nation in minutes per game with 40.2. He is averaging a mind boggling 42.2 mpg in Big East contests. Anything less than overtime games is now “hurting” his average. Cotton needs 28 minutes tomorrow to break Billy Donovan’s single season record of minutes played (which Cotton already tied once, 1,234 minutes) and only 6 minutes to break the career record for minutes played of 4,128 held by Donnie McGrath. He also has a really good shot at the single season record for minutes played/game held by Jimmy Walker (39.7 mpg during 1966-1967 season). He is 10th in the nation in points per game at 21.7, 11th in the nation in total points scored at 651, T-17th in the nation in assists per game at 5.9 and T-7th in the nation in Free Throws made at 192. Cotton is now in 5th place all time on the PC scoring list with 1,863 career points in a Friar uniform. He surpassed the great Marvin Barnes for 5th all time by hitting a pair of free throws early against Marquette on Tuesday. He also is playing in his 126th game tomorrow which will break Dickey Simpkins record of 125 career games played as a Providence Friar. There are more records he is close to or may break but there just isn’t enough time in the day to list them all here.
- Bryce Cotton is 2nd in the Big East in scoring (21.7 ppg) and Doug McDermott is 1st (25.9 ppg).
- Bryce Cotton is 1st in the Big East in assists (5.9 apg) and Austin Chapman is 3rd (4.3 apg).
- Kadeem Batts is 4th (7.6 rpg) and LaDontae Henton is 5th (7.3 rpg) in the Big East in rebounds while Doug McDermott is 6th (7.2 rpg).

#pcbb Weekly Recruiting Update 3/7/14
- The NEPSAC playoffs finished up last weekend and Providence targets played major roles in taking home trophies for their respective schools. Jalen Adams put the knife through the heart of the St. Andrew’s faithful for the 2nd year in a row when he put home this rebound to win the semifinal matchup:

Cushing was able to take down Abdul Malik Abu and Kimball Union in the championship game behind Kaleb Joseph and Adams’ stellar play. Adams took home playoff MVP.
For Brewster, Donovan Mitchell and Devonte Graham, both PC targets, were impressive during the playoffs and especially in clutch moments. Mitchell calmly nailed 4 consecutive free throws at the end of the championship game to defeat New Hampton and Graham was able to answer every time New Hampton appeared to be pulling away in the first half.
For recaps of the playoffs, FriarBasketball.com and NewEnglandRecruitingReport.com.
Brewster wasn’t done with the NEPSAC. They continued their winning ways taking down St. Thomas More to take home their 2nd National Prep Championship in 4 years. Adam Finkelstein had this to say about PC targets Graham, Mitchell and Reuter:
