Bracketology Update: Joe Lunardi’s Updated Bracket #pcbb

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi came out with his new bracket today and he has PC as a 12 seed in a First Round Play-in game in the Midwest bracket (Indianapolis) playing Oklahoma State. Lunardi currently has a total of 5 Big East teams in with SJU and PC in the last 4 in category and Georgetown in the next 4 out category. It looks like, depending on how this last couple weeks of the season go, the Big East could get as many as 6 in and as few as 3.

Lunardi lists PC’s chances as a coin toss right now to get into the NCAA tournament:

LAST FOUR IN: These teams are being squeezed at both ends. They don’t want to be caught from behind, of course, but they also want to move up and secure a first-round bye. Dayton is their most likely destination.

In my opinion, the Friars need to get to 21 wins to dance. I’ll have a full Bracketology update on Thursday at noon as I do every week.

Rapid Reaction: Friars Hang On At Hinkle #pcbb

Well they didn’t make it easy.

The Friars shot lights out in the first half and were able to get out to a 13 point lead at the break, 46-33. But PC seemed to come out of the locker room a little flat or maybe it was that Butler honored the team from Hoosiers at halftime.

Bryce Cotton did his usual Bryce Cotton thing. He scored 28 points and dishes out 6 assists. The scoring attack was pretty balanced and this is likely the most efficient offensive performance by these Friars. All 5 starters scored in double figures. Josh Fortune had another hot shooting night going 4/7 from behind the arc. Henton looked much better and Batts was active. Carson Desrosiers was sick and couldn’t go for the Friars so Brice Kofane decided to have the first half of his life. He didn’t play a ton of 2nd half minutes but really played well when called upon.

Cotton got called for a questionable technical and that seemed to spark the Friars. Barlow would later foul Cotton while shooting a 3 and those 3 free throws that Cotton nailed put PC up 8 and they never looked back. PC shot a blistering 67% (28/42) from the field including 65% (13/20) from deep.

Final Score: Providence 87 Butler 81
