The Friars swept the Bulldogs in the regular season and will be looking for the trifecta to advance to their 3rd straight Big East Tournament semifinals. Providence Coaches Spotted at National Prep Championships

The 2016 National Prep Championships are being held Tuesday and Wednesday at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT and there are a good amount of Providence recruiting targets that are playing over the next two days. Adam Finkelstein already spotted Providence coaches at Albertus Magnus College and it was later learned that those coaches are Ed Cooley and Andre LaFleur. Kris Dunn is USBWA’s District I Player of the Year, Ben Bentil All-District Performer

More and more accolades are being heaped onto Providence’s star players. USBWA released their 2015-16 All-District Teams on Tuesday and Kris Dunn was named the District I Player of the Year. Ben Bentil was on the All-District I Team. District I is made up of schools in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Full disclosure, I am a USBWA member and voter.

2016 Big East Tournament Odds

March is here and conference tournaments are either underway already or about to be underway this week. The buzzer beaters and Cinderella stories are both good reasons why college basketball in March is awesome, but another large factor is…gambling. Obviously gambling should only be done where legal by those who are allowed to partake. Weekly College Basketball Polls Update: March 7th

Week 18 of the college basketball polls have been released and Providence got votes this week, but the Friars still aren’t back inside the Top 25 in either poll. Providence went 2-0 last week with a win on Senior Night at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center against Creighton and a road win at Madison Square Garden against St. John’s to close the regular season at 22-9. The Friars finished the season 10-8 in Big East play and will take on Butler at Madison Square Garden on Thursday in the Big East Tournament quarterfinals. The Friars moved from NRV last week in the AP Poll to XXth and from 30th to 27th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll this week.
