RProvidence looks to get back to their winning ways after dropping a road game at DePaul on Tuesday night. Providence is looking to beat Villanova twice in one season for the first time since 2004. The Friars are 13-9 ATS this season and the Wildcats are 11-10 ATS. Providence opened as a 5 point home underdog against Villanova.

Ben Bentil Named a Finalist for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award
Ben Bentil’s breakout season has been a surprising and welcome development for Providence. Even more surprising? He’s doing it all at the center position after former classmate Paschal Chukwu opted to transfer to Syracuse in late May of 2015. Chukwu figured to start and get the lion’s share of minutes at the 5, but those duties now fall on Bentil and he has not disappointed. More evidence of that is seeing Bentil’s name on a list of 10 finalists for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award given to top center in college basketball. This is the second year the award is being given out by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Providence Offers 2017 Big Man Nate Watson
While the Friar coaching staff is focusing on preparing for Villanova on Saturday and attending a local prep invitational at nearby Rhode Island College, they also managed to extend an offer to a player from Virginia on Thursday. Nate Watson is a 2017 big man who is enrolled at Bishop O’Connell is Virginia is the recipient of the latest Providence offer. The news was first reported by Corey Evans of hoopseen.com. Watson is ranked 157th in the class of 2017 by 247Sports.
