I attended a wedding during the game and was following the game tracker on my phone, during the mass — sorry I’m not sorry Bridget — and only got a chance to actually watch the game on New Year’s Day. Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com has updated his bracket for the second time in-season and Providence, as well as some of their Big East compatriots, keeps getting better placement. In Palm’s preseason bracket, Providence was a 9 seed and he was higher than some others on the Friars at that point. In his last update on December 16th, Providence moved up to a 3 seed. The Friars have moved up again in Palm’s bracket out today.
The Friars open Big East play on the road at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse on New Year’s Eve at 2:30pm EST on CBS Sports Network. The line has opened and Providence is an 8 point underdog at Butler. The Friars and Bulldogs are both 7-5 ATS this season. Butler has had their last 4 games go Under after the prior 6 went Over the Total. Providence’s last 4 games have gone Over the Total.
