2015 guard Kobie Eubanks is one of the best available players in the 2015 class after failing to qualify at Baylor in the fall of 2014. The Florida native had previously cut his list to 10 exactly one month ago on January 5th. Providence made that cut. The Friars expressed interest after watching Eubanks score 37 points for Elev8 Sports Institute in the National Prep Showcase in New Haven back in November.
Now that he has had a month to think about his recruitment and take a visit to Oregon, the scoring guard has opted to cut his list further down to a final 5. Eubanks announced his final 5 on his Twitter account.
I have previously written about Kobie Eubanks back in late November after Providence coaches took in his impressive 37 point performance at the National Prep Showcase in New Haven on the Friday before the Friars played in the Hall of Fame Tipoff at Mohegan Sun. Eubanks is doing a postgrad year at Elev8 Sports Institute in Florida following his failure to qualify at Baylor as a member of the class of 2014.
On Monday he informed Scout.com that he cut his list of schools down to 10 and Providence made the cut for the 121st ranked player according to 247sports’ composite national rankings. Scout.com is the service that ranks him the highest at 53rd nationally.
Kobie Eubanks was originally part of the class of 2014 and he signed a National Letter of Intent with Baylor in the Spring of 2014. In mid-September of 2014 he was declared academically ineligible to play at Baylor and opted to do a prep year and become part of the class of 2015. His prep year is being done at Elev8 Sports Institute in his native Florida.
This past weekend Elev8 played in New Haven, CT at the National Prep Showcase and Eubanks was impressive. He poured in 37 points in a win against New Hampton School. Evan Daniels of Scout.com said “Eubanks had arguably the best performance of the National Prep Showcase” with those 37 points. The Providence staff attended games at the NPS Friday night ahead of their weekend games at Mohegan Sun in nearby Uncasville, CT.
