Scout.com has expanded their class of 2017 rankings from a top 50 to a top 75. The class of 2017 has a ton of talent and Providence is already involved with 10 of the 75 players on Scout’s rankings.

After expanding the class of 2016 top 60 to a top 100 on Tuesday, ESPN expanded their class of 2017 top 25 to a top 60 on Wednesday. The debut of the class of 2018 top 25 is scheduled to be released on Thursday.
Providence currently has 2 open scholarships to use in the class of 2017, barring a commitment from a big man prior to the start of next season. It is also highly likely that Kris Dunn’s scholarship will open up after this season as he is almost guaranteed to leave for the NBA. ESPN updated their class of 2016 rankings on Tuesday with a fresh top 100, which is an expansion from the previous top 60 for the class. They plan to release the expanded class of 2017 top 60 on Wednesday and debut the class of 2018 top 25 on Thursday. Scout.com just released their updated 2016 top 100 on Friday last week.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 20 man roster for the 2015 Reese’s College All-Star Game to be played at 4:30pm on April 3rd in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium. The game “features 20 of the finest senior college basketball players from NCAA Division I,” according to the NABC website.
LaDontae Henton will be a member of the East team that will be coached by Nebraska’s Tim Miles. He will wear number 21. The West team will be coached by Jim Crews of Saint Louis. The players are selected by NABC member coaches, per the release.

On Thursday Rivals released their expanded recruit rankings for the class of 2017. Prior to coming out with their top 75 on Thursday they had only ranked the top 25 players. Providence had 2 players in that top 25 and they now have 11 players in this top 75. Also remember that Providence got a commitment from 2017 guard Javon Taylor in August 2014.

ESPN updated all three of their high school basketball recruiting rankings Tuesday. Paul Biancardi also gave some background on how the rankings are done:
We base our rankings on the four Ps: Performance, production potential and projection, among many other factors. First we analyze and evaluate a prospect’s individual performance, his production level now and possibly at the collegiate level, his potential in the college game, and where he could land on a possible professional draft board.
