Recruiting News: New England Recruiting Report Releases Updated Class 2017 Rankings

New England Recruiting Report is a fantastic resource that covers New England basketball. With so much talent in the New England region in the class of 2017 the Friar coaching staff figures to spend a lot of time traveling to and from the various prep schools. The NERR Top 25 in the class of 2017 unsurprisingly reads like a Providence recruiting list as there are a lot of Friar targets that are in the top 25, including early commitment Javon Taylor.

Providence Recruiting Guide to the 2015 National Prep School Invitational

While the Providence coaching staff probably won’t be able to attend much of this weekend’s National Prep School Invitational due to a road game at Xavier on Saturday there will be a number of Providence recruiting targets playing at Rhode Island College this weekend.

The NPSI begins on Thursday, February 5th and runs through Sunday, February 8th. There are teams from all over New England as well as teams from Florida, Kansas, South Carolina, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and even some international teams from Canada and the Czech Republic. Cox Hub will have live streaming available of 3 games each day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The cost is $5/day or $9 for a month pass to get all NPSI streaming games.

Below is the full schedule of the event. All games will be played at Rhode Island College on Mount Pleasant Avenue in Providence. You’ll see that I’ve listed any Providence recruits that are playing in a particular game.

Recruiting News: Rivals Top 150 In Class Of 2015 Released Today

Eric Bossi over at Rivals.com released his updated ranking for the Class of 2015 today. There are a number of PC recruits/targets within the top 150 but one noticeable snub was 2015 commit Ryan Fazekas. I have a feeling he will be in the top 150 after the AAU season finishes though. He has been trending up ever since committing to PC in October.

2014 NEPSAC Boy’s Basketball Tournament Begins Today

The playoffs are upon us in the NEPSAC! There are a bunch of Friar recruits and targets in the NEPSAC and seeing them play in crunch time and win or go home games is a great tool to find out more about them as players. You can be sure that Coach Cooley and staff will attend more than a few of these games over the 3 days of the tournament. Fantastic job as always by the guys at FriarBasketball.com. Kevin Farrahar and Craig Leighton give their thoughts on the weekend’s action by ranking the top 3 performers of the weekend, describing how some of PC’s targets fared, talking about who else impressed them, giving their pick for who they want to end up at PC the most of all players in attendance (coincidence they both picked PC recruits? Cooley has really changed things in Friartown), identifying a few under the radar prospects and discussing how the talent level this year measured up against prior years. Awesome stuff and a definite must read for recruiting junkies.
