Rapid Reaction: Friars Fall on the Road
It was a bit of a slugfest throughout and the surprise of the day was Josh Fortune but the Friars fell on the road at Xavier. Cotton wasn’t able to get much going today and there were scoring droughts by both teams. Some key turnovers and empty possessions by PC did them in at the end. This wasn’t a must win game but it was pretty close. I believed they needed to go at least 1-1 on this road trip so Monday in DC not becomes a big game.
Final: Providence 53 Xavier 59

- No rest for the weary – Ed Cooley is expected to be in Huntington, WV tonight to take in the matchup of Huntington Prep and Carlisle. While Carlisle features the #1 player in the class of 2016 in Thon Maker, Cooley is likely more interested in the immediate term with watching 2014 PG recruit JaQuan Lyle who just returned from a weekend official visit to Oregon. I’m sure Cooley also wants to check in on 2014 commit Jalen Lindsey who has been playing very well this season for Huntington Prep.
