The recruiting buzz around the Providence program has been steadily picking up over the last few weeks as lists have been cut down and official visits scheduled. This weekend begins a massively important 30 day stretch for Ed Cooley and his staff as they will host 6 recruits and have their annual Late Night Madness. The visitors begin with a wing from the class of 2016 today and end with a slew of recruits at Late Night Madness on October 17th with some other high profile recruits coming to the campus in between.

Providence Recruiting Update: Jeff Battle Making His Presence Felt on the Trail
Bob Simon was Providence’s lead recruiter on many of the Friars’ top targets while he was part of Ed Cooley’s staff. With Simon now associate head coach at Alabama under Avery Johnson the task for Cooley was to bring in another strong recruiting assistant coach. He turned to old friend Jeff Battle. The differences between the two coach’s networks have been easy to spot. Battle has focused much of his attention in the first 4 months with the Friars on recruiting the states of Virginia and North Carolina. Both states are quite fertile with talented basketball prospects and Battle is getting Providence involved with some of the best players in those states, along with a few hidden gems that appear ready for a rise. Providence Recruiting Update: In-Home Visits & Visits to Friartown
I hope everyone had a lovely Labor Day Weekend and people are ready for the fall to begin. Something that will begin this week is a recruiting period. That means — starting on September 9th — coaches can visit players at their homes and schools. That hasn’t been able to occur since April 22nd. The Providence coaching staff will be very busy on September 9th as they have plans to visit a lot of recruits, either at their homes or at their schools. There are also two more Friar targets that will get attention on and off campus from the Providence coaching staff. More on all of that below.

Providence Recruiting Update: Incoming Transfer, Still Recruiting in ’15, PC in a Top 5 & New Offers, Interest
With the first two live evaluation periods under their belts the Providence coaching staff has managed to add a player for 2016 already. That player is George Mason transfer Isaiah Jackson. They are still looking for a big man that can contribute in 2015-16 and also have continued their dogged pursuit of 2016 top target Wenyen Gabriel, while also handing out new offers and expressing interest in some new players. Finally the Friars made 2016 top-60 point guard Tony Carr‘s final list of 5. All of that in detail below.
