Last night there were 5 games in addition to Providence’s own at Butler that could help boost the Friars’ RPI. The results were about as good as could be asked for at 5-1, including Providence’s fantastic come from behind road win at Butler. Stony Brook took care of Columbia, 70-61, on the road. In a battle of two not very good ACC teams, Florida State defeated Virginia Tech, 86-75, at home. Kentucky had their first true scare of the season against Ole Miss with the Rebels taking the Wildcats to overtime. Kentucky did prevail though, 89-86. Albany edged New Hampshire by the score of 64-62. The only blemish on the night was Boston College who coughed up a 10 point lead with just over 3 minutes remaining in regulation at home to ultimately fall in overtime against ACC foe Pittsburgh, 61-60.

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm Releases Updated Bracketology 1/5/15

I think Palm’s 5 is probably a more realistic number come March than Lunardi’s 7 because the middle of this conference is going to beat each other up.

It’s still pretty early to be keeping tabs on RPI but with Joe Lunardi released his latest bracketology today I felt like it was a good time to check in with Providence’s RPI and how it can be helped. I’ll be doing this post any day there is a game or games that will affect the Friars’ RPI.

Providence’s RPI is now at 28.

Two games tonight for PC to get some RPI assistance.

Bracketology Update 12/15/14

Last Monday ESPN’s Joe Lunardi came out with his 1st edition of “Bracket Math”. This Monday CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm came out with his 1st edition of his Bracketology since doing a pre-season bracketology.

Palm’s bracket has 6 Big East teams in the field of 68 with seeds ranging from 2-12. While Lunardi’s bracket through games on December 7th had 7 Big East teams in the field, Palm has had the chance to remove Providence following their loss at home to Brown. He has also pumped up St. John’s and Seton Hall.

The 6 Big East teams are:
