Jerry Palm Releases Updated Bracketology 12/16/15

After 33 days of college basketball games, Jerry Palm has released his first updated bracketology since before the season began on November 13th. Palm was pretty bullish on Providence and had placed the Friars as a 9 seed in his preseason bracket. With the Friars off to a 10-1 start over those 33 days, Palm is even higher on Ed Cooley’s bunch than Joe Lunardi, who has Providence as a 5 seed in his latest release of Bracket Math. Palm also calls for 5 Big East teams to be in his field of 68.

Preseason Bracketology All the Rage This Week

After 7 months of “way too early” preseason projections it’s now pretty timely to be making preseason projections — if for no other reason than the preseason ends tonight. This week has seen lots of different publications come out with their preseason bracketology — something that people might argue is still way too early — and there has been a bit of a dichotomy about where Providence stands in regards to the NCAA Tournament following the 2015-16 season. It appears that dichotomy stands between the human based projections and those generated by data and computer programs.

Review of Last Night’s Action

There was 1 game yesterday that could help boost the Friars’ RPI. The result was 0-1. Navy fell to Colgate in the Patriot League Tournament, 72-62.

Providence RPI Update 3/5/15

Review of Last Night’s Action

There were 4 games yesterday that could help boost the Friars’ RPI in addition to their own road game at Seton Hall. The result was 3-1. Notre Dame used a big first half to defeat Louisville at the Yum Center, 71-59. Albany dispatched Bob Walsh’s Maine squad in the first round of the America East Tournament, 83-66. UMass fell at home to Richmond, 56-53. Miami (FL) went on the road and got a win against Pittsburgh at the difficult to play at Peterson Center, 67-63.

Providence RPI Update 3/4/15

Review of Last Night’s Action

There were 3 games yesterday that could help boost the Friars’ RPI. The result was 2-1 . URI lost on the road at Dayton, 75-59. Navy beat Army in the first round of the Patriot League tournament, 56-52. Kentucky had a scare at Georgia but was able to get their 30th win and remain undefeated, 72-64.
