Providence and Dayton will meet in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament in Columbus on Friday. The Friars are the 6 seed while the Flyers are the 11 seed. Dayton had to defeat Boise State in a “First Four” matchup in Dayton on Wednesday night to get to this game.

This game opened with the Friars as a 2.5 point favorite. The line moved to -3.5. The total opened at 131.

Opening Line: Providence +8 vs Villanova 3/13/15

Providence and Villanova will meet in the Big East Tournament semifinals after dispatching their quarterfinal opponents by convincing margins. Villanova’s 35 point trouncing of Marquette was more impressive than the Friars’ 17 point win against St. John’s though. Villanova swept the season series, including a blowout win on their Senior Night.

This game opened with the Friars as an 8 point underdog. The line was bet up to 8.5 and then 9.

Providence and St. John’s will meet for the 3rd time this season with the Red Storm sweeping the regular season series against the Friars. This is the second straight season these two teams will meet in the 4/5 game of the Big East Quarterfinals.

This game opened with the Friars as a 1.5 point underdog. The line was quickly bet up to 2.5

Kenpom’s Big East Tournament log5 Prediction

Ken Pomeroy does a log5 analysis prior to each conference’s tournament. For those unfamiliar with what log5 is, here’s a quick and dirty explanation. log5 is a formula that was created by famed baseball writer and statistician Bill James. James’ formula uses team A’s winning percentage and team B’s winning percentage to come up with the probability that team A wins. Kenpom’s version uses his Pythagorean Rating in place of winning perentage. I’ll give you the precise formula and an example at the end of the article for those truly interested in that stuff.
