Kris Dunn, Ben Bentil Named to ESPN Midseason All-American Teams
Apparently releasing midseason awards is something that’s happening this week. NBCSports.com released their midseason awards and midseason All-American teams on Wednesday. ESPN’s turn was Thursday. Jeff Goodman put out the ESPN awards and though he didn’t choose Kris Dunn for Midseason Player of the Year like Rob Dauster of NBCSports.com did, he did keep Dunn as a First Team All-American. Goodman also has Ben Bentil jumping into the mix as a Third Team All-American.

Providence Lands Two Players on NBCSports.com’s Midseason Awards List
It may be difficult for Friar fans to get over last night’s home loss against Marquette. This may help and it may also help them to recall how special this season has been to date. NBCSports.com has released their midseason awards and All-American teams. While these awards mean little in that they aren’t official, they do give a good snapshot of Providence’s first half of the season. Kris Dunn was named Player of the Year and Ben Bentil was named Most Improved Player. Dunn was also named a First Team All-American.

Thoughts from the Road: Friars Fall Flat at Home Against Marquette
This Thoughts from the Road: Standing Around in a Bar Edition is brought to you by Vince asking for the foul situation every few minutes and is fueled by boneless wings at Croxley’s Ale House in Farmingdale.
- Providence started slow, clawed back into the game, went on a second half run to open up an 8-point lead and then went cold and allowed Marquette back into the game. That’s a pretty simple summary of the action in Providence’s game against Marquette on January 5th. It was another slow start for Ed Cooley’s group, as the Friars trailed, 7-0, 4+ minutes into the game before they scored their first basket at the 15:40 mark of the first half on a Kris Dunn layup. Prior to that, there were 4 turnovers and 5 missed field goals. Slow starts are going to be a lot harder to overcome in Big East play and with a fairly short rotation it will be asking a lot for Providence’s core players to expend energy every night coming back from early deficits.
