LaDontae Henton, Kris Dunn Honorable Mention All-Americans

The AP released their All-American teams on Monday. Not a single player from the Big East conference was named to the 3 All-American teams. Kris Dunn and LaDontae Henton were named Honorable Mention All-Americans, along with Villanova’s Ryan Arcidiacono and Darrun Hilliard.

Thoughts from the Road: Plenty of Blame to Go Around, Big Picture Still Positive

Thoughts from the long drive home from Columbus…

  • I’m not going to spend a ton of time talking about the game itself because everyone is probably already all talked and read out about it. Let me say a few things that I believe to be true. The officiating was poor. The technical foul called on Ed Cooley by Terry Ogelsby and the subsequent “explanation” given by NCAA coordinator of officials John Adams were poor. The job the NCAA did of placing Dayton in Dayton and then 75 miles up the road in Columbus was poor. The scheduling of the game being at 10pm — ultimately tipping near 11pm and ending after 1am — was poor. I can believe all of those things to be true and, at the same time, believe they weren’t the reasons Providence was defeated and sent packing in the round of 64.

Providence Prepares for Dayton, Meets with the Media

Providence arrived in Columbus on Wednesday and were greeted by some Friar fans at the team hotel. After settling in the team watched the Dayton/Boise State game together in their film room at the hotel and “watch[ed] with an open mind” according to Carson Desrosiers. The team practiced Thursday morning with an eye on Dayton for the first time and LaDontae Henton, Kris Dunn, Tyler Harris, Carson Desrosiers and Ed Cooley met with the media Thursday afternoon around 5pm followed by another team practice.

Here are some of the highlights from that media session:

Thoughts from the Road: Providence Comes Up Short in the Semi’s

This thoughts from the road is me cheating a little. I’m writing this from the press room in Madison Square Garden. The brownies are so good, can you blame me?

  • Ed Cooley took the high road after the game when he responded to a question asking for his thoughts on the foul call at the end of the game.

“The last play of the game was a 50-50 call. I think we have the best officials in the country. I think the Big East has always had the best officials in the country. It doesn’t come down to one play. I’m pretty sure everybody’s going to ask me about that. At the end of the day, we have the best officials in the country. It was a 50-50 call. It can go either way. It just didn’t go our way tonight.”
