The recruiting buzz continues to pick up around the Providence program as they are in the midst of stretch hosting visitors. It started last weekend with 2016 wing Jalen Johnson and the Friar staff played double duty this weekend by hosting two recruits. Power forward Kevin Marfo‘s visit was scheduled for this weekend all along, but hosting point guard Maliek White wasn’t supposed to happen until next weekend. The Richmond, VA native decided to cancel his visit to Cincinnati and move up his trip to Friartown, a source familiar with the recruitment told pcbb1917.com on Friday. On Saturday White’s list was cut to a final four, according to the Twitter account of his grassroots program.

2016 Wing Jalen Johnson Enjoys Visit to Providence, Still Planning to Sign in November
As I chronicled heading into this past weekend, the Friar coaching staff is now on the clock for a massively important stretch — 30 days being my nice, neat headline from last week — that ends with their annual Late Night Madness festivities on October 17th. During that span they are scheduled to host a number of recruits in the class of 2016, including top target Wenyen Gabriel. The first visitor to step foot on Providence’s campus during this critical period was 2016 wing forward Jalen Johnson. Johnson is a North Carolina native who attends Wesleyan Christian Academy and ran with Team Wall on the adidas Gauntlet circuit this spring and summer.

Providence Recruiting Update: This Weekend Kicks Off Big 30 Day Stretch of Visitors for Friars
The recruiting buzz around the Providence program has been steadily picking up over the last few weeks as lists have been cut down and official visits scheduled. This weekend begins a massively important 30 day stretch for Ed Cooley and his staff as they will host 6 recruits and have their annual Late Night Madness. The visitors begin with a wing from the class of 2016 today and end with a slew of recruits at Late Night Madness on October 17th with some other high profile recruits coming to the campus in between.
Friars to Receive Official Visit from 2016 PG Justice Kithcart
It’s fair to say that Justice Kithcart‘s recruitment has taken off recently. At this time last year Kithcart’s offer list consisted of only Northern Arizona. The Lumberjacks play in the Big Sky conference. Kithcart has received 10 offers since the first evaluation period in April and 6 of those 10 came from school’s that would be considered high major, including the Friars. Ed Cooley is casting a wide net in his attempt to replace the dynamic Kris Dunn next season and Kithcart likes what Cooley has been saying enough to include Providence as one of the 5 schools that will get an official visit from the North Carolina native.

Providence Offers 2016 Point Guard Jalen Harris, Will Visit PC Officially in October
The search for a point guard is heating up for Ed Cooley and his staff and they have a lot of irons in the fire. They extended another offer to a 2016 lead guard on Monday with Word of God Christian Academy’s Jalen Harris being the recipient. Harris was visited at his home on Sunday by Providence coaches, according to Jamie Shaw of PhenomHoopReport.com. Shaw was the first to report the offer being made and he also tweeted that Harris plans to visit Providence officially on October 9th.
