The 2015 adidas Nations camp finishes up on Monday night with the final 2 games being played on ESPNU. The first game tips off at 7pm EDT with Team USA 2017 Lillard facing off against Team Africa. The second game tips off at 9pm EDT with Team USA 2016 Wall taking on Team USA 2016 Rose. There are a number of Friar recruits playing in each game. Wenyen Gabriel is averaging 18.0 points/game and 15.0 rebounds/game for Team Africa. The scoring mark is 8th-best while the rebounding numbers lead the camp by almost 5 boards per game. He is the only person at the 2015 adidas Nations camp to average a double-double. Each team has played 4 games heading into Monday night’s action.
Here is the list and the number they are wearing on their respective teams.
Providence recruits will take part in the 2015 adidas Nations Camp this weekend. The camp will be held in Long Beach, CA from July 31st-August 3rd and is broken up into teams by country/continent/region. There are 4 USA teams and players range from the classes of 2016 to 2018. There are also college players who work the camp as counselors and URI’s Hassan Martin has been selected to be one of them. EC Matthews of URI attended last year and was invited back this year but declined so he can focus on healing after having hand surgery in the offseason. Seton Hall guard Isaiah Whitehead will also attend this year as a counselor. Kris Dunn attended this camp back in the summer of 2011 while still an uncommitted recruit. Coaches are not allowed to attend this camp as we are currently in a recruiting dead period on July 31st and then a recruiting quiet period beginning on August 1st.

Providence fans will get a unique opportunity to see some of their top recruiting targets play live on national television on Sunday afternoon. The adidas Uprising Championships kicked off on Wednesday for the final live evaluation period of July and the Mass Rivals — the team that features Ed Cooley’s top target in Wenyen Gabriel — and Team Loaded VA were entered. They each advanced to the finals and ESPNU is airing the game at 6pm EDT. The two teams combine to showcase a dozen Friar targets. Here they are:
The NBPA Top 100 Camp is one of the better camps of the spring and summer. The competition level is intense and the talent level is always impressive. ESPN updated their class of 2016 rankings on Tuesday with a fresh top 100, which is an expansion from the previous top 60 for the class. They plan to release the expanded class of 2017 top 60 on Wednesday and debut the class of 2018 top 25 on Thursday. Scout.com just released their updated 2016 top 100 on Friday last week.
Providence currently has 2 open scholarships to use in the class of 2016, barring a commitment from a big man prior to the start of next season. It is also highly likely that Kris Dunn’s scholarship will open up after this season as he is almost guaranteed to leave for the NBA. Let’s take a look at where some of Providence’s 2016 targets fell on ESPN’s Top 100:
Scout.com has updated their class of 2016 top 100 list and released it on Friday. Providence currently has two open scholarships for 2016 but they are actively pursuing both 2015 and transfer options to fill at least 1 of those scholarships with a big man. An assumption can also be made that the 2015-16 season will be Kris Dunn’s last at Providence. Below are some players that Providence is targeting from this class that made Scout’s top 100.
Nike EYBL finishes pool play this weekend in Minneapolis. This is the 4th and final session of the regular season before the playoffs begin at the Peach Jam which is held in North Augusta, SC from July 15th to the 19th. 24 teams will advance to the Peach Jam after this weekend in Minneapolis and some of the teams led by Providence recruits are in good position to do so. This is the second straight session of EYBL where coaches are not allowed to attend as the event takes place during a dead period that runs from May 21st through May 29th.
