Report: Ryan Gomes Signs NBA D-League Contract

It appears Ryan Gomes is taking another shot at the NBA. Chris Reichert of the D-League blog UpsideMotor.com tweeted that Gomes has signed a deal with the NBA D-League, according to a league source. Gomes last played in the NBA for the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2013-14 season, though Gomes’ contract was waived by the Boston Celtics after the Thunder traded Gomes to Boston as part of a 3-team deal between Oklahoma City, Boston and Memphis. Report: Former Friar Marshon Brooks to Sign with Italian Team

Shams Charania of RealGM is reporting that former Friar star Marshon Brooks is close to signing with the Italian team Olimpia Milano. Olimpia Milano plays in the Euroleague and Lega Basket Serie A. They won Serie A last season and reached the quartefinals of the Euroleague. This is the team that produced current NBA star Danilo Gallinari.

Brooks played this past summer with the Sacramento Kings in Las Vegas after bouncing around via trade during the 2013-14 regular season between Boston, Golden State and the Lakers. There were rumors that the Indiana Pacers were kicking Brooks’ tires after the Paul George injury last week but Shams Charania is reporting that Brooks has moved on from those negotiations.

This likely marks the end of Marshon Brooks NBA career unless he somehow goes to Italy and decides that’s where he’s going to learn how to play defense. The more likely scenario is he will play his same game as an offensive scorer. This now means that it’s up to Bryce Cotton and Kadeem Batts to make an NBA roster and if neither of them does there will be no Friars in the NBA which is something that hasn’t happened in a while.
