Dunn is heading to Minnesota after the Timberwolves selected him 5th overall. Dunn becomes the 42nd player from Providence to be selected in the NBA Draft and he joins the elite company of Otis Thorpe, Marvin Barnes, Ernie DiGregorio, Jimmy Walker and Lenny Wilkens as the only Providence players taken in the Top 10 of the NBA Draft. Dunn is also just the 3rd Providence player ever to be taken in the NBA Draft’s Lottery — a system that began in 1985 — joining Austin Croshere and Eric Williams.

Thoughts from the Road: Kris Dunn, Triple Doubles, Ben Bentil and a Business Trip

This Thoughts from the Road: Couch Edition will be less of a game recap and more of a rambling about the week so far and the weekend upcoming for Providence.

  • On a day when Kris Dunn’s name appeared on two different National Player of the Year Watch Lists, the Friar star guard went bananas on the lowly Hartford Hawks to the tune of 16 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds. Yup. That’s also known as a triple-double and it’s the second of Dunn’s career. He joins Marvin Barnes and Bob Misevicius as the only Friars in school history to have more than one triple-dub. Dunn looked effortless in accomplishing the feat and also managed to tie his career high in assists in the process. Dunn will surely stick around in the NPOY conversation all season long and he has Providence positioned well heading into the last 5 games of the non-conference schedule.

Kris Dunn Named Associated Press Preseason First Team All-American

Getting love from CBS Sports and NBC Sports and even Blue Ribbon College Yearbook is really nice for Kris Dunn. It gives Dunn and Providence time in the national spotlight and gets people all across the basketball world talking about Dunn and the Friars. The Associated Press All-American Team is a different ballgame.

Providence Friars Overcome Injuries, Foul Trouble & Refs for Road Win at #24 Georgetown

The Providence Friars and (#24) Georgetown Hoyas met at the Verizon Center Wednesday night in Washington DC. Kris Dunn was dealing with a sore back and was routinely being stretched out by a trainer during long timeouts. You wouldn’t have known Dunn’s back was bothering him by the way he played. The soaring sophomore had a big first half and finished the game with 12 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals. Dunn spent more than 6 minutes on the Friar bench in the middle of the second half but LaDontae Henton came alive during that time. Henton was joined by contributions from Ben Bentil, Carson Desrosiers and Junior Lomomba.
