Justin Kutcher and Jackson will call the Thursday afternoon games. The finals are being played at 5:30pm ET this season and will be on FOX. All other games will air on Fox Sports 1. This Thoughts from the Road: Snowed in Philadelphia Edition is brought to you by Katie cooking great meals that included bacon and Ben coining the phrase “Deep Fryahs”. It’s fueled by the wings at McMenamin’s.
That was a hell of a Big East battle. The game started slow with the teams combining for a 2/10 shooting start and a 2-2 tie with 16:54 left in the first half. One thing that struck me while watching the teams answer each other and seesaw the lead back and forth over the course of 45 minutes of game action was that the refs didn’t seem to be involved. For me to not even notice Tony Chiazza until the second half is telling. Providence was only whistled for 4 team fouls and Villanova 6 in the first 20 minutes of the game. You read that correctly: neither team got into the bonus in the first half. That’s pretty amazing with the way referees are making themselves household names these days.
There’s a new highlight mixtape out for 2016 Word of God Christian Academy PG Jalen Harris. Harris is scheduled for an official visit to Providence on October 9th.
Ed Cooley will be one of 4 Big East basketball head coaches to appear on the Fox Sports 1 show “America’s Pregame” on Wednesday. The show will air at 5pm EDT on Fox Sports 1. The other Big East coaches on the show will be Villanova’s Jay Wright, Xavier’s Chris Mack and Seton Hall’s Kevin Willard.
Also appearing on the show Wednesday will be UFC figher Miesha Tate and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. The show is hosted by Mike Hill and Molly McGrath and airs weeknights at 5pm EST. McGrath was the sideline reporter at the 2015 Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden.
Fox Sports has released the announcer pairings for the 2015 Big East Tournament. You’ll notice that Bill Raftery is not calling the semifinals or finals with Gus Johnson. The reason for that is that Raft will be calling the Big Ten Tournament in Chicago. There will also be a studio show hosted by Rob Stone that will air all week long from Madison Square Garden. Joining Stone in the studio will be analysts Kevin O’Neill, Donny Marshall and Tarik Turner. All Big East Tournament games will air on Fox Sports 1 and streamed on Fox Sports GO.
