Former Friar Bryce Cotton Heading to China, Will Reportedly Sign with Xinjiang
Less than two weeks after re-joining the Austin Spurs of the NBA D-League, Bryce Cotton is reportedly heading overseas to China. The news of Cotton going overseas was first reported by Dennis Silva of the Monitor News. A subsequent report comes via Chris Reichert of Upside & Motor, a D-League blog. Reichert is the one who has indicated a source informed him that Cotton will take his talents to China and will sign with Xinjiang of the Chinese Basketball Association. Another former Friar Marshon Brooks is currently second in scoring (34.6 points/game) playing with Jiangsu and the CBA is where God Shammgod was playing prior to returning to Providence to complete his undergraduate degree. A 2013 article by OneWorldSports.com list Shammgod among the top 5 imports in CBA history.

Bryce Cotton Back With Austin Spurs of NBA D-League
Bryce Cotton is back in the NBA D-League after a stint with the NBA’s Phoenix Suns. The Austin Spurs put out a release to indicate that the former Providence guard will return to the team and wear number 7. Cotton was the third NBA D-League call up of the 2015-16 season. He was with the Suns for two 10-day contracts before being waived ahead of the league’s contract guarantee deadline. Cotton was with the Suns for a total of 24 games between November 25th and January 6th. He played in 3 total games with Phoenix, averaging 11 minutes/game and 1.3 points/game.
Cotton will join Austin as the team heads to California for games on Thursday and Saturday. Ironically, the team the Spurs will face on Thursday is the Bakersfield Jam. The Jam is the affiliate team of the Phoenix Suns. Cotton’s call up just before Thanksgiving was due to the Suns’ injury issues at the guard position, but he was waived because his contract would have become fully guaranteed for the remainder of the season if he was still on the roster on January 7th.
