Obviously the result of this game wasn’t what Providence fans wanted. The 15 point halftime lead never truly felt comfortable. That’s a product of watching plenty of Providence games over the years that has fans always waiting for the other shoe to drop. Usually that other shoe is a player transferring or an injury or a coach leaving that cripples the program in the short term and sometimes even the long term.
Just got a text:
"Is it weird that I still feel uneasy?"
Me: "No, you're a PC fan."
Friars could make it easy on fans and put USC away
In Dayton for the NCAA Tournament and looking for a place to meet up with other Providence fans before tonight’s game? Providence Athletics is hosting a pre-game meet-up and team send-off at the team hotel:
Friartown is coming to Dayton, OH. All alumni, fans and friends are invited to join the Friars at the Dayton Marriott for a pre-game reception in the Tradewinds room of the hotel located on the main level.
The pre-game reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is complimentary. Food and a cash bar will be available. Following the reception, all fans are invited to join the PC Pep Band and Cheerleaders in the lobby of the hotel as we send the team off to the arena at 7 p.m.
The Friartown Fan Voice podcast returns to preview Providence’s NCAA Tournament First Four matchup with USC in Dayton. I was again joined by Brendan McGair of the Pawtucket Times. Zach Helfand of the Los Angeles Times joined to give us some insight on USC’s team and season and then we discussed the coaching job Ed Cooley did this season to get the 2016-17 team from 9th in the preseason Big East coaches poll to a fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
