Happy Monday, Friar fans! While some of you may be nursing an Alumni & Family Weekend hangover I’ll do my best to give you some news and notes from around the Providence basketball world to get you caught up on the on-court product and recent recruiting tidbits. Obviously Saturday’s win was a big one against 22nd-ranked Butler in front of a sold-out crowd at the Dunk, but the Friars still have a lot of work left to do if they want to keep dancing in March for a fourth straight season.
Creighton had offered three point guards in the last month leading up to Justin Robinson’s scheduled visit to Omaha for the weekend of September 26th. One of those offers was handed out to 2015 Marlon Stewart while Stewart was on an official visit to Creighton on September 20th. On Monday he announced his commitment to the Blue Jays. There was some discussion that Creighton may view Stewart as more of a combo guard and that they may still be pushing hard for Robinson but that either isn’t the case or Robinson wasn’t buying that as Roundball Rundown Report Director & East Coast Contributing Editor for NY2LA Corey Evans reported that Robinson would no longer visit Creighton this weekend as previously scheduled.
After the commitment of Marlon Stewart to Creighton, 2015 St. James guard Justin Robinson will no longer visit CU this wknd @ny2lasports
It’s unclear if Robinson will try to add a 5th visit to his docket with UNLV currently scheduled to now be his 4th official visit on October 3rd. Before setting his five official visits Robinson had cut his list to 6 schools with Temple not making the official visit cut. So far Robinson has visited Virginia Tech, Maryland and Providence.
