Weekly College Basketball Polls Update: March 14th
Week 19 of the college basketball polls — the final poll until after the NCAA Tournament concludes — have been released and Providence remains outside the Top 25, but receiving votes in both polls. Providence went 1-1 last week in the Big East Tournament with a win over Butler in the quarterfinals on Thursday and a loss to top-seeded Villanova on Friday in the semifinals. The Friars enter the NCAA Tournament at 23-10 as a 9 seed in the East Region. They play 8 seed USC on Thursday night in Raleigh. The Friars moved from t-31st last week in the AP Poll to 36th and from 27th to 28th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll this week.

Weekly College Basketball Polls Update: March 7th
Week 18 of the college basketball polls have been released and Providence got votes this week, but the Friars still aren’t back inside the Top 25 in either poll. Providence went 2-0 last week with a win on Senior Night at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center against Creighton and a road win at Madison Square Garden against St. John’s to close the regular season at 22-9. The Friars finished the season 10-8 in Big East play and will take on Butler at Madison Square Garden on Thursday in the Big East Tournament quarterfinals. The Friars moved from NRV last week in the AP Poll to XXth and from 30th to 27th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll this week.

Weekly College Basketball Polls Update: February 29th
Week 17 of the college basketball polls have been released and Providence has dropped out of the USA Today Coaches’ Poll a week after dropping out of the AP Top 25. Providence went 1-1 last week with a loss at surging Seton Hall and a win over DePaul at home. The Friars are now 8-8 in Big East play and will take on Creighton at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Wednesday before finishing the regular season at Madison Square Garden against St. John’s. The Friars moved from 27th to receiving no votes in the AP Poll and from 24th to 30th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll this week.

Weekly College Basketball Polls Update: February 22nd
Week 16 of the college basketball polls have been released and Providence has dropped out of the AP Top 25, while remaining in the USA Today Coaches’ Top 25 after an 0-1 week that included a road loss at Xavier. The Friars are now 7-7 in Big East play and will travel to New Jersey for a Thursday night game against Seton Hall before returning home to take on DePaul at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Saturday. This breaks a 12 week streak of Providence being ranked in the Top 25 of the AP Poll, the longest such streak since the 1977-78 Friars were ranked for 13 consecutive weeks in the AP Poll. The Friars moved from 23rd to 27th in the AP Poll and from 20th to 24th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll this week.

Weekly College Basketball Polls Update: February 15th
Week 15 of the college basketball polls have been released and Providence has fallen again, but remained inside the top 25 after a 1-1 week that included a double OT loss at Marquette and a home win against Georgetown. The Friars are now 7-6 in Big East play and will travel to Cincinnati for a Wednesday night game against Xavier before having their second week-long “bye” of the Big East season. This is the first time Providence has been ranked in the AP Poll for 12 straight weeks since the 1977-78 season when the Friars spent the final 13 weeks ranked in the AP Top 25. The Friars moved from 20th to 23rd in the AP Poll and from t-17th to 20th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll this week.
