The 2015-16 version of Big East Media Day is in the books and the preseason awards and polls are out. I already gave you my picks for Preseason Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Big East and my Preseason Poll. Now it’s time to break down the choices made by the league’s coaches.

First let’s tackle the individual player awards and All-Big East Teams before finishing with the Coaches’ Poll.

Kris Dunn Named Preseason All-American by CBS Sports

The preseason honors keep rolling in for Kris Dunn. Dunn has already been named to a few preseason All-American teams and was named the preseason National Player of the Year by Blue Ribbon College Yearbook. On Monday CBS Sports announced their preseason All-American squads and Dunn found himself on the First Team again. Dunn joins Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield, LSU’s Ben Simmons, Gonzaga’s Kyle Wiltjer and Kentucky’s Skal Labissiere on the First Team.

2016 Wenyen Gabriel Commits to Kentucky

Wenyen Gabriel has announced his decision and the fast-rising forward from New Hampshire committed to John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats. Gabriel was down to a final 5 of Connecticut, Duke, Kentucky, Maryland and Providence and had taken visits to Maryland and Kentucky before shutting down his recruitment and announcing his commitment on ESPN’s Recruiting Nation with Adam Finkelstein. Gabriel — who attends Wilbraham and Monson Academy and ran with the Mass Rivals on the adidas Gauntlet series — was a top target for Ed Cooley and the Providence staff but, as was the case with the class of 2015’s top Friar recruiting target Donovan Mitchell, Gabriel blew-up in the spring and summer to rise all the way to the top 20 in the class of 2016 rankings, according to 247sports.com’s composite national rankings.

Providence Athletics to Launch Kris Dunn Microsite on October 1st

Providence College Athletics sent out a release on Wednesday that they will launch a Kris Dunn microsite at 10am on October 1st as part of Friars.com. The site will feature information about Dunn and be updated as the 2015-16 season goes on. This is a welcome sign from Providence Athletics as they have sometimes struggled to market and publicize their star players.
