Ludacris to Perform at Providence’s 2015 Late Night Madness

After a week’s worth of teasers from the Providence Athletics Twitter and Snapchat accounts the announcement has finally been made about who will be performing at the 2015 Late Night Madness festivities in Friartown: Ludacris. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 17th. Doors open at 6:30pm and the event is open to Providence College students only.

Two Providence Underclassmen Playing in Croatia on Global Sports Academy Goodwill Tour

Providence has two of it’s young players over in Croatia as part of the Global Sports Academy Goodwill Tour. Sophomore Jalen Lindsey and freshman Drew Edwards help make up a team of Division 1 college basketball players. The team is coached by top Siena assistant Greg Manning and the team will play 4 games during the 8 day tour of Croatia. The opponents will be professional teams in 4 different cities.

Bracket Officially Released for 2015 Wooden Legacy Tournament

Providence’s opponent in the first round of the 2015 Wooden Legacy Tournament presented by DIRECTV — Evansville — has been known for a couple of weeks now. Today it became official with the release of the bracket for the entire field. Providence gets the Purple Aces in round 1 on November 26th with the game tipping off at 9pm ET on ESPNU. As expected the Friars would then play either Arizona or Santa Clara on November 27th.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi Releases His Preseason 2015-16 Bracketology

Early August means preseason bracketology, because why not? ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has released his preseason bracket and the Big East has 5 teams in the field of 68. The Friars are not currently one of those 5 but they are right on the cusp, according to Lunardi. The ACC leads the way with 9 teams in the field followed by the SEC, Pac 12, Big 12 and Big Ten getting 6 teams each. The American (4) and Atlantic 10 (2) are the other multi-bid leagues in Lunardi’s bracket.
