Opening Line: Providence +4.5 vs. Notre Dame 11/23/14

The line opened with Providence as a 4.5 point underdog against Notre Dame. Kenpom.com has Providence winning the game by 1, 66-65.

Notre Dame beat UMass 81-68 on Saturday in the game right before Providence’s win over Florida State. Despite this bracket not being a traditional advance and play the winner bracket the two winners from Saturday will square off.

Opening Line: Providence +2.5 vs. Florida State 11/22/14

The line opened with Providence as a 2.5 point underdog against Florida State. Kenpom.com has Providence winning the game by 1, 72-71.

Providence’s season opener against Albany had a late line of PC -14 and O/U 140. Providence won by 4 and the total was well under the 140 number at 124. The Friars’ second game of the season opened with a line of PC -21.5 and O/U of 137. Providence won the game by 21 and total again came well under the number at 111. So the mini-trend that has started off this season is the Friars are 0-2 ATS (some place might have had the Binghamton line at -21 so a push is possible) and they are 2 for 2 on the under hitting.

I’m not sure where the O/U will open for this one but I get the sense that this game may be a rock fight and end up with both teams in the 60’s.

Check back here for updates to the lines as they move.

UPDATE 5:39pm: Line has moved to PC +1.5 and the moneyline has been taken off the board. Early money coming in on the Friars?

Opening Line – Providence -21.5 vs. Binghamton 11/17/14

The line opened with Providence as a 21.5 point favorite over Binghamton. Kenpom.com has Providence winning the game by 17, 77-60. The over/under opened at 137 and as of this update at 10am that has moved down to 134.5.

Providence’s season opener against Albany had a late line of PC -14 and O/U 140.

Update: 3:30pm – the line hasn’t moved much and is steady at 21.5 but the total has dropped significantly from the 137 open and is now at 132.5.

2015 Point Guard Announces Commitment

Happy Birthday to Justin Robinson. Unfortunately for Friar fans it will be Buzz Williams and not Ed Cooley that gets Robinson’s talents for the next four years. This recruitment was played very close to the vest with Robinson and his family not giving much in terms of quotes other than the generic positive stuff about each of his final 4 schools.

At the end of the day Robinson decided to stay at home and play for the home state Hokies. While this miss hurts for Cooley and the Providence coaching staff, they have a solid class already for 2015 with Ryan Fazekas, Alex Owens and Drew Edwards already in the fold. It remains to be seen whether Cooley will go after another 2015 recruit or pocket the scholarship for a transfer or the loaded 2016 class.

Check out Justin Robinson’s Friar Crystal Ball page here.

#pcbb Weekly Recruiting Update 9/26/14

After last weekend’s flurry of visitors Ed Cooley and his staff didn’t sit at home and rest on their laurels. Cooley and his staff were spotted all over the country this past week checking in on future prospects in 2016 and 2017 but also making a point to be seen by primary 2015 target Justin Robinson. To see where the staff was this week, check out the site feature called “Where is Ed Cooley and the staff?” which is linked at the top of the page on the menu bar.
