Camp Errol was founded by Calvin Jones and named in honor of Errol Clinton who was killed at the age of 15 by a random act of violence in the city of Providence. E.R.R.O.L. stands for Education, Respect, Responsibility, Opportunity and Leadership. Providence Recruiting Update: National Prep School Invitational to Draw Friar Staff
Providence is in the midst of a tough stretch on the court after falling at the hands of St. John’s at home on Wednesday night to fall to 3-6 in Big East play. A stark contrast in guard talent was on display with the Red Storm getting 48 of their 91 points from their starting backcourt of freshmen Marcus LoVett and Shamorie Ponds. Providence coveted Ponds in the 2016 class and the decision ultimately came down to the Friars or Red Storm. Ed Cooley and his staff have certainly shown an eye for identifying talent and the next few days provide yet another opportunity in Providence’s backyard to catch some top prep talent at the National Prep School Invitational being played Thursday through Sunday at Rhode Island College. Aside from the fact that the NCAA doesn’t seem to mind teenagers having their phones begin to blow up at midnight on a weeknight, Brian Snow of Scout.com had an interesting perspective on the importance of these June 15th calls:

Providence Recruiting News and Notes: Grassroots Circuits Underway
This past weekend marked the kickoff for all three shoe-sponsored leagues and Providence had coaches at all of three of those events, while also monitoring some events that aren’t run by the sneaker companies. I was between the Nike EYBL session in Brooklyn and the Under Armour Association in lower Manhattan. Joining me going between these events all weekend was Associate Head Coach Andre LaFleur. Brian Blaney was in Dallas for the adidas Gauntlet series’ opening event, while Jeff Battle was spotted in Staten Island at the Elevate Hoops event. Ed Cooley wasn’t on the road this weekend as he was back on campus hosting a pair of transfer targets. More on that later.

Providence Coaches Spotted at National Prep Championships
The 2016 National Prep Championships are being held Tuesday and Wednesday at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT and there are a good amount of Providence recruiting targets that are playing over the next two days. Adam Finkelstein already spotted Providence coaches at Albertus Magnus College and it was later learned that those coaches are Ed Cooley and Andre LaFleur. The question is, who is Providence there to see? Here are some answers.
