Devonte’ Graham announced via Twitter that he was granted his release by new App State coach, Jim Fox.

This means the floodgates will open for the young man who is the best point guard available for the Class of 2014. The competition will be stiff for the Friars but Ed Cooley is a fixture at Brewster already as he is recruiting 2015 Donovan Mitchell and he and Brewster coach Jason Smith have a good relationship. Cooley will be joined by Virginia’s Tony Bennett and Nebraska’s Tim Miles on Thursday when the trio of high major head men will finally be able to interact with Graham now that he is released. Kansas’ Bill Self will be at Brewster on Friday. The reason coaches aren’t already at Brewster is because the current recruiting calendar has us on the tail end of a dead period which means no on campus or off campus in person contact. The dead period ends at 12pm Thursday.

12:01pm April 10th begins the Devonte’ Graham period for a host of schools.

Listen to Coach Drew Maddux On Ed Cooley and Building Relationships

Drew Maddux is the head coach at CPA in Nashville and coached 2014 commit Jalen Lindsey and currently coaches 2016 recruit Braxton Blackwell. Listen to him discuss how good Ed Cooley and his staff are at building relationships with recruits and all the people in their lives:

Quotes from New 2014 PC Commit Kyron Cartwright

Here are some quotes so far from the newest member of PC’s incoming recruiting class:

From Josh Gershon’s story on Scout.com:

“I liked it; I liked the coaching staff and the players a lot.”

“They made a good impression on me right away.”

“I liked the campus. It’s not too big and not too small. The people there are really nice and it’s a good environment. They’ve very supportive.”

“They see me coming in during the summer and getting better,” he said. “I probably won’t play much at the beginning of the season but once I get used to it and gain experience I’ll be playing a lot more.”

“I think I bring a competitive nature, one they already have,” Cartwright said. “I’ll be really good in transition. I’m really happy”
