ESPN’s Joe Lunardi Releases His Preseason 2015-16 Bracketology

Early August means preseason bracketology, because why not? ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has released his preseason bracket and the Big East has 5 teams in the field of 68. The Friars are not currently one of those 5 but they are right on the cusp, according to Lunardi. The ACC leads the way with 9 teams in the field followed by the SEC, Pac 12, Big 12 and Big Ten getting 6 teams each. The American (4) and Atlantic 10 (2) are the other multi-bid leagues in Lunardi’s bracket.

Here are the notable Big East results from Lunardi’s preaseson bracket:

Report: Fordham Transfer Eric Paschall Expected to Commit to Villanova

So much for taking that Providence visit. Fordham transfer Eric Paschall is expected to announce a commitment to Villanova on Friday, per a report by Adam Zagoria. Paschall got permission to contact school following the firing of Fordham coach Tom Pecora. Since that time Paschall and his father Juan have visited Villanova and Florida and the elder Paschall told me no decision would be made until they visited Providence. Apparently something changed on that front. Bob Simon going to Alabama may have played a role but I’ve been told that Cooley also has a good connection with the Paschall’s, so it was a little puzzling to me that a visit never happened.

Paschall was the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year in his only season at Fordham and will have to sit out the 2015-16 season at Villanova, per NCAA transfer rules. He will have 3 years of eligibility remaining with the Wildcats and will only turn 19 this November. This is a very good pickup for Jay Wright and the year off should allow Paschall to develop him body and game to get ready for the jump up to the Big East in 2016-17.

Paschall has visited Villanova and Florida and is scheduled to visit Providence this weekend, per a tweet from Jon Rothstein.

Providence Will Get Visit From Fordham Transfer Eric Paschall

Fordham freshman Eric Paschall visited Villanova on April 1st and is now reportedly going to visit Florida the weekend of April 11th, per a tweet from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. Rothstein’s tweet does mention that Providence is “in [the] mix” but there has been no concrete date mentioned for a visit to Friartown. Eric’s father Juan confirmed to me that there is no date set right now but he did tell me that “we will not make any decisions until we visit Providence though.”
