ESPN and Scout.com released their updated recruit rankings for the class of 2016 after the summer grassroots season and now it’s time for Rivals to follow suit. ESPN and Scout had differing views on most of the Providence recruits within their Top 100’s. Rivals’ rankings mirror those of ESPN with Wenyen Gabriel jumping from the 80’s to 17. There is also a Friar recruit who is visiting Providence in October that is making his debut in Rivals’ Top 150 in Maliek White and Kevin Marfo rounds out the Top 150 in the final slot. Providence is visiting him at his school on September 9th.
With the first live period beginning on Friday it makes sense that Rivals would want to update their rankings for the class of 2016. That class is now the focus for most schools now that the 2014-15 season has been put to bed officially. Providence only currently has 1 open scholarship for the class of 2016 but that could change depending on Kris Dunn’s decision and any other player movements that could occur between now and the fall of 2016.
Eric Bossi from Rivals updated their class of 2016 rankings with a new top 150. While Providence still has a couple open scholarships in the class of 2015, Ed Cooley and his staff have offered/shown interest in a number of highly ranked players in the class of 2016.
Rivals released their updated class of 2015 top 150 rankings today. The number of recruits PC is still involved with is dwindling from this top 150 list. Having said that, guys like Justin Robinson and Drew Edwards are extremely underrated to not be in the top 150 for Rivals. Shawntrez Davis said in early August that he wanted to visit Providence but Alex Owens committed since then so I’m not sure if the Friars are still recruiting Davis.
Eric Bossi over at Rivals.com released his final ranking for the Class of 2014 today. Three of the 4 members of Providence’s committed Class of 2014 are in the final top 90 with the lone member not in the top 150 being recent PG commit, Kyron Cartwright.
Eric Bossi over at Rivals continued the class ranking updates by expanding the class of 2016 rankings from the top 35 to the top 60. PC has been recruiting a good number of these kids.
