Quiet Period
Coaches can have in-person, face-to-face interaction with recruits and/or their family members ONLY on campus. No off-campus evaluation or contact is permitted. Non face-to-face contact is allowed during this time (i.e. phone calls, emails etc.).
Recruiting Period
Coaches can have in-person, face-to face interaction with recruits and/or family members at any location and can evaluate recruit’s academic and athletic qualifications by visiting their school to speak with teachers and coaches, to review film, and can observe practice and competition.
Dead Period
Coaches cannot have in-person, face-to-face interaction with recruits and/or their family members at any location. Contact is prohibited even if the recruit and/or family members arrive unexpectedly to campus. Non face-to-face contact is allowed during this time (i.e. phone calls, emails etc.).
Evaluation Period
Coaches can evaluate recruit’s academic and athletic qualifications by visiting their school to speak with teachers and coaches, to review film, and can observe practice and competition, but no in-person, face-to-face interaction with recruit’s and or family members away from campus is permitted.
Note: All live evaluations during recruiting periods shall be limited to regularly scheduled high school, prep school, and two-year college contests/tournaments, practices and regular scholastic activities involving prospective student-athletes enrolled only at the institution where the regular scholastic activities occur. During the April evaluation period, evaluations shall be limited to nonscholastic events that are certified per Bylaw 13.18.
