Thoughts from the Road: Providence Hangs on Against Scrappy Illini

Friars Win: Illinois 59, Providence 60
| Final Score | |
| Illinois | 59 |
| Providence | 60 |

| Leading Scorer | Leading Rebound | |
| Illinois | Coleman-Lands: 17 | Hill: 11 |
| Providence | Bentil: 18 | Bentil: 12 |
Notes:
- Providence did not have a great overall game from Kris Dunn but he made some big plays down the stretch.
- Ben Bentil carried a lot of the scoring load and had a double-double
- Kyron Cartwright had a nice first half. He injured his knee in the second half and went to the locker room for a short stint but returned to the game.
- Jalen Lindsey dressed for the game and got some action off the bench after missing the opener for a violation of team policy.
- Friars return to action Saturday against Brown at the Dunk.
